The administrative procedures for your solar panel installation (≥ 10 kVA)

Know that regardless of the region where you live, various administrative formalities exist. Nothing complicated, we guarantee it.

Step 1

Do I need a planning permit?

Regardless of the shape, size, power or height of your installation, a planning permit is not required if your panels are fixed or integrated into the roof and do not extend beyond the building. In 99% of cases, Neopower will therefore offer you an installation date once your quote is signed and your first deposit is paid.

Ground-mounted or modified roof installation

A planning permit is in theory required.

Listed building or protected site

A permit is mandatory. Only the owner can apply for it

If in doubt, contact your municipality. Even without a permit, some municipalities require a works declaration — a simple email is sufficient.

Step 2

Approval & commissioning

Once your panels are installed, it is mandatory to have the safety and compliance of your installation inspected. This step is handled by our team.

Electrical diagram

We prepare the complete diagram of your installation

Compliance inspection

Appointment with the accredited certification body

Declaration & smart meter

We declare your installation to your distribution network operator for its official commissioning. They will then install your smart meter for injecting non-self-consumed kWh

Step 3

Your electricity supplier

Installing solar panels will reduce your electricity bill. Don't forget to notify your energy supplier in order to reassess the amount of your monthly payments or interim invoices.

There is no need to change your contract, unless of course you wish to change your pricing plan (to a dynamic tariff for example).

Step 4

Your home insurance

Every insurance contract is different. Always contact your insurer to make sure that your panels are properly included in your existing coverage (damage, theft, etc.).

Step 5

Your potential subsidy applications

In Belgium, there are no longer any subsidies for installing solar panels, except in Brussels where green certificates are still offered for any new photovoltaic system, for a period of 10 years.
